Cutthorpe

woodhousehallsquaregrass

Cutthorpe, a village in North-East Derbyshire, England, is located about three miles to the north-west of Chesterfield. Here is a map of the Cutthorpe area. Cutthorpe does not have its own parish church, but does have a Methodist chapel/church. Cutthorpe is within the parish of Old Brampton and so those interested in tracing family history might find that Cutthorpe ancestors attended the church at Old Brampton.

Local History

In the local history section there is a virtual tour of the village of Cutthorpe, a list of Cutthorpe place names off the census and a list of occupations of village residents in 1841. There is information about some people of Cutthorpe (from the past) which includes three articles by Judith Stubbs, a former resident of the village, who has written three books on the history of Cutthorpe. Also there is some information on Old Brampton church. Finally there is some information about the Enclosure Acts and land ownership in the parish.
